Ask for measurements in centimetres — chest, waist, inside leg, or for a bag the width at the base. A UK 12 and an EU 40 are not reliably the same garment.
For designer bags and watches, ask for the serial or date code photographed against the item itself, not a picture found online. A seller with the real thing will not mind.
Meet where there is daylight. Colour, wear on the heels and marks on a lining all disappear under shop lighting or a phone flash.
